finally we are off the ground. we now have 12 bikes at three locations of campus; 15 west, the beach/quad and mosshasuck apartments. you can check them out for 6 hours at a time or over night if you pick one up after 11. please ride safe and responsible and tell your friends!

look for bikes with pink stripes and yellow numbers/letters!

workday #1 gettin prepped for RISD Pink Rides.

A big thanks to Recycle-A-Bike for providing us with bikes, parts, tools and time! This would have been wicked hard to do without you.

PINK RIDES UPDATE

Hey all just wanted to update you about whats goin on with the Pink Rides project. Right now we are gearing up for spring; collecting bikes and repairing them. We are also looking to add more bike locations across campus; hopefully at the quad and perhaps Mosshasuck apartments. So get pumped for spring time and spread the word!

Also a huge thanks/shout out goes to Kryptonite, who supported our Pink Rides by donating a u-lock. We love and use your products and hope to partner with you in the future!

Hi BIKE TOWN!

It was great to get some new faces at this past BIKE TOWN meeting, and for those who couldn’t make it, here’s a brief recap:

BIKE MAINTENANCE WORKSHOPS
Workshop #1
December 5th / 6:15pm / ID gallery
Jessica Brown (brown_design@hotmail.com) is heading up the organization of the first workshop. We hope to have tools in time, but if not, Will Krause has volunteered to bring some of his.

FACILITIES
For now, it looks like the ID building might be the best place to meet and have workshops. Brendan Ravenhill (bravenhill@gmail.com) is working on scouting a more permanent location.

SAFETY
Mideum Shin (mideum.shin@gmail.com) is heading up the organization of safety info for bikers, if you have any resources to send him, please do!

RACKS
Sara Kudra and I (jill.allyn.peterson@gmail.com

) are working on getting more racks at RISD asap. But if anyone is interested in a more long-term fabrication project, please get in touch!

PARTNERSHIPS
We are looking into working with Recycle-A-Bike to get some training on bike workshops and maintenance. They’re having volunteer night tomorrow at 6-9 at the Steel Yard, anyone want to go learn some bike repair?

PARTY
After the workshop December 5th, we’re going to have a little shin-dig to celebrate the end of the semester, shall we say 7:15 or so?

RIDES
Critical Mass Providence is happening again the day after Thanksgiving, that’s Friday November 28th. Check myspace.com/bikeprov for more details.
Nate Phipps (nphipps@g.risd.edu) and Maddie Mcgarrity are working on forming an official RISD team (that way we can get insurance and vans to go on trips).

PSAs
Last week the Providence Bicycle Coalition asked if there were any RISD students interested in working on a Public Service Announcement about bike safety. It could be a really cool opportunity for FAV or really any of us creative types to collaborate on a project and see it produced and on TV. Pink Rides

Nate Phipps and Maddie Mcgarrity are working on bringing community bikes to RISD’s campus. If you interested in getting involved with this project contact Nate at nphipps@g.risd.edu

OFFICIAL CLUB STATUS
We’re working on being an official club through OSL for spring. In the meantime, we’re getting help from Respond Design.
